CLARA G. AUSTIN

Clara Gay Austin, 62, of the 100 block of Lindsey Ave., died Friday Nov. 1, 1996, in Chesapeake General Hospital.

Mrs. Austin was born in Kinston, N.C., and was the daughter of Virginia Lowry Waller of Chesapeake and the late James E. Waller. She was also predeceased by her two brothers, Linwood Forrest Waller and Elwood Otto Waller.

She was a member of DeBaun Memorial Baptist Church, Disabled American Veterans, Auxiliary Chapter and the Roaring Twenties Senior Citizens Club, all of Chesapeake.

Survivors include her husband, John W. Austin; her four daughters, Wanda Moneymaker of South Boston, Linda R. Hicks of Halifax, Peggy J. Reagle and Johanna L. Gurganus, both of Chesapeake; three sisters, Belle Stallings of Virginia Beach, Goldie Jones of Roanoke Rapids, N.C., Chloe Vance of Chesapeake; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday in DeBaun Memorial Baptist Church by the Rev. Donald Joyner Jr. Interment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Norfolk. Viewing will begin Monday and friends may join the family at Oman Funeral Home, Great Bridge, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to DeBaun Memorial Baptist Church, 1510 Campostella Road, Chesapeake, Va. 23320.
