Minnie Seltzer Cherin, 93, of Virginia Beach, died Nov. 3, 1996, in a Virginia Beach hospital.
Mrs. Cherin, a native of Long Island, N.Y., was the widow of Joseph Cherin. She was a member of Congregation Beth El in Norfolk, its Sisterhood, a life member of Beth Sholom Home Auxiliary, Hadassah and a member of Beth Sholom Ladies Auxiliary, Golden Age Club, Hebrew Ladies Charity Society and B'Nai Brith.
Survivors include a daughter, Leona C. Stern and her husband Charles of Lexington, Ky.; a son, Dr. Jack Cherin and his wife Susan of Virginia Beach; a stepson, Howard Cherin of New York; a brother, Dr. Herman Seltzer and his wife Anne of California; grandchildren, Ellen and Laurence Land of Norfolk, Joanne and Brian Eder of Cary, N.C., Shirley and Jared Bryan of Lexington, Ky., Don Stern of San Jose, Calif., Gail and Michael Long of Herndon, Va., Margaret and Douglas Colburn of Rochester, N.Y.; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Forest Lawn Cemetery by Rabbi Philip S. Krohn and Cantor Jacob Tessler. The family will be at 644 Rosaer Lane, Virginia Beach, following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Joseph and Minnie Cherin Scholarship Fund, c/o Congregation Beth El. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel, is handling arrangements.
