Gertie Frances Wright of the 2800 block of Evergreen Place, died Nov. 1, 1996, in Maryview Hospital.
Mrs. Wright was born in Nansemond County and was the widow of Ned E. Wright. She was a member and missionary of Union Baptist Missionary Church, Suffolk.
Survivors include a son, the Rev. Raymond R. Powell of Chesapeake; two sisters, Beatrice Ford and Olivia Powell, both of Portsmouth; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Union Baptist Missionary Church, Suffolk, by Dr. C.V. Russell Sr. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens, Suffolk. Viewing will begin at 10 a.m. today. The body will be taken to the church at noon Tuesday. Corprew Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
