CLIFFORD H. BUNGARD

Clifford H. Bungard, 85, of the 500 block of Crabtree Lane, died Nov. 3, 1996.

A Morgantown, W.Va., native, he was a graduate of West Virginia University where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a lieutenant commander and retired from Unisys Corporation after 45 years. He was an ordained elder in the Presbyterian Church for 52 years with 36 years at Thalia Trinity Presbyterian Church.

In his passing, he leaves behind his wife of 55 years, Eleanor Hoard Bungard; two daughters, Mary Bungard Fain and husband, Edgar, of Blacksburg, and Elizabeth Argus-Dixon and husband, Owen, of Virginia Beach; son, Clifford Bungard and wife, Noni, of Blacksburg, and Dr. W. Chris Holcomb and wife, Shelley, who have always been a special part of our family. The nine grandchildren he leaves are Richard Fain, Elizabeth Argus, Mekea, Ashley, and Amanda Parsons, Heather, Rebecca, Kelyn, and Erik Holcomb.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday in Thalia Trinity Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Robert Bradford and Dr. Walter Kennedy officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Early Childhood Learning Center at Thalia Trinity Presbyterian Church, 420 Thalia Road, Virginia Beach, Va. 23452.
