Lawrence Gladding ``Barney'' Lewis Sr., 78, of Richmond, died Sunday, Nov. 3, 1996. Mr. Lewis was founder of Lumber Sales Corporation; a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church and The Country Club of Virginia. He also was a graduate of Christchurch School and Randolph-Macon College.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth M. Lewis; his children, Lawrence G. Lewis Jr., Michael M. Lewis and Anne L. Palmer; a brother, Wilbur M. Lewis of Halifax; three sisters, Mrs. William Gray of Llewellyn Park, N.J., Mrs. James W. Brooks of Closter, N.J., and Mrs. Chester A. Wilkins of Ashland; and five grandchildren.
His remains rested at the Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave., where the family received friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. today in Hollywood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 4240 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, Va. 23060.
