Robert Hugh Lankford, 78, of the 32000 block of O'Berry Church Road, died Nov. 1, 1996, in his home.
He was a native of Franklin, Southampton County, and was a member of O'Berry A.M.E. Zion Church in Franklin, where he was a member of the Steward Board until his health failed. He was a retired farmer and construction worker.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Dorothy Lankford; one daughter, Mrs. Eulah Jones of Forestville, Md.; four sons, John W. Lankford of Forestville, Harvey Lankford of Franklin, Alvin Lankford of Newport News, and Robert Lankford of Forestville; nine grandchildren, Jackie Lane, Linda Lankford, Kimberly Lankford, Amanda, Harvey Jr., Alvin, Lucas, Marcus, and Michael Lankford; great-grandchildren, Brandon Myrick, Quanta and Quantrell Long, Martuice, Darrion, Sherese and Daraile Lankford; and one brother-in-law, Herman H. Scott; three daughters-in-law, Loretta Battle, Delois Lankford and Shirley Lankford; two nieces, Florence Johnson and Perlene Strawther of Norfolk; one nephew, Raymond J. Lankford of New York; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Alberta Scott and Alfred Lankford.
The funeral will be at noon Wednesday by the Revs. Milton and Porter in O'Berry A.M.E. Zion Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Elvin Vaughn Funeral Home, Franklin, is handling the arrangements.
