The Rev. Napoleon Ward, 71, a native of Windsor, died Nov. 1, 1996.
He graduated from the W.S. Etheridge High and attended North Carolina A & T University, Greensboro, N.C. He was married to the former Josie Bell. The couple had two children, Napoleon Ward Jr. of Chesapeake and Mrs. Janice Turner of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. The Rev. Ward was a member of Pleasant Oak Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School for 35 years. He was also a past deacon and the pastor of the same church. He was licensed on May 18, 1986, and ordained on Sept. 14, 1986. He was a member of the Tri-County Ministerial Association, member of Cashie Masonic Lodge 118, and Patron of Cashie Chapter 261, Order of the Eastern Star. The Rev. Ward was also active in working with youths in the community.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Pleasant Oak Baptist Church. Interment will take place in Ward Family Cemetery, Windsor. Gilliam Funeral Home, Windsor, is handling arrangements.
