Two armed robberies and a drug-related shooting have detectives scouring for clues and suspects.
A 21-year-old man walking through the strip of woods behind Southgate Mall was robbed at knife-point of $180 at 12:40 a.m. Saturday. Two men struck the man, held a knife to his head and took his wallet. Police have no suspects, said Detective C.E. Kirby.
The woods between Southgate Mall and Woodstock I Apartments have been notorious for drug deals and robberies over the years. Four years ago, police even found a woman's body there after she had been missing for two weeks.
In a separate incident, a man robbed at gunpoint an elderly couple behind the Comfort Inn Saturday at 10:30 p.m. The robber escaped on foot. Police have no suspects.
Also, Troy Eason was arrested and charged with shooting a large-caliber revolver at the feet of an 18-year-old man and 22-year-old woman Friday at 6 p.m. at 1000 Wood St., the residence of the woman. Police said the incident was drug-related.
