POLICE RELEASE SKETCHES OF NSU SLAYING SUSPECTS

Police released composite sketches Tuesday of two men believed to be responsible for the slaying of a 20-year-old Norfolk State University student last week.

The shooting occurred about 1:10 a.m. Oct. 26. George L. ``Tre'' Mills III was shot while sitting in his car in the 2700 block of Myrtle Ave. He later died in a hospital.

According to police, Mills and a friend were leaving for a party and planned to follow another woman, who was in her car.

While Mills was cleaning dew from his car, the woman pulled into an intersection. As she pulled out, she reportedly cut off an oncoming car that contained the suspects.

The suspects' car remained motionless, and the passengers stared at Mills and the other two people.

Mills told the woman to leave and she continued driving. In the meantime, the suspects drove down the street and stopped. Two of the suspects got out of the car and walked to Mills' car.

Mills was shot while sitting in the driver's seat. The other man, who had not gotten into the car, was also shot at and sustained minor injuries.

The two men ran back to the car, and all three suspects fled.

Mills, who was from Richmond, was a sophomore majoring in sociology at NSU. He lived on Myrtle Avenue while attending the school.

Police are looking for three black men and have drawings of two, based on witness information.

The suspect police believe is the trigger man was described as 18 or 19 years old, 5 feet, 9 inches tall, 155 pounds with a medium-length Afro and a light brown complexion. He was wearing a black jacket.

The other suspect was described as 18 or 19 years old, 5 feet, 8 inches tall, 145 pounds and dark-skinned. He had medium-length dreadlocks and was wearing a black leather jacket.

The driver of the getaway car was seen wearing a red jacket and black Chicago Bulls cap. He had a dark complexion and mustache. The suspects fled in a 1986 or 1987 white Hyundai with a luggage rack on the trunk. Witnesses told police the Hyundai had a ``bad paint job.''
