Charles Rond Hudgins Jr., 76, of the 4500 block of Wake Forest Road, died Nov. 10, 1996, in Portsmouth.
Mr. Hudgins, a native of Portsmouth, was a retired marine engineer with the supervisor of shipbuilding at Newport News. He was a lifelong member of St. John's Episcopal Church and a trustee of the church, a member of Washington Lafayette Masonic Lodge, Portsmouth Kiwanis and Portsmouth Executive Club. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Mavia Gurley Hudgins; a daughter, Suzanne Hudgins Wright of Chesapeake; two granddaughters, Anna Edstrom and Kristen Travers Wright; a sister, Ella Hudgins Felton of Baton Rouge, La.; two brothers, Edward Earl Hudgins of Deltaville, Va., and Robert Reid Hudgins of Edgewater, Fla.
A memorial service will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church on Tuesday at 11 a.m. by the Revs. Brian C. Hobden and Forrest J. Bergeron. The family will receive friends after the service in the church hall. Foster Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
