Born in Amelia County, Va., and raised in Midlothian, she was a graduate of the Sheltering Arms School of Nursing in Richmond. Her interests included gardening and flower arranging. A past president of the garden club, she was active both in the Algonquin Park Garden Club and the Bethany Circle of the Larchmont United Methodist Church until shortly before her death.

Survivors include two sons, William T. Gray of Norfolk and Duryea D. Gray III of Severna Park, Md.; four granddaughters, Elizabeth Hunziker and Michele Hofmann, both of Fredericksburg, Va., Nancy Amerault of Waltham, Mass., and Ashley Gray of Norfolk; three great-grandsons, David, Jeremy and Peter Hunziker of Fredericksburg, Va.; and one sister, Pearl W. Smith of Midlothian.

A memorial service will be conducted by Dr. Jerry O. Campbell at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 15, at Larchmont United Methodist Church in Norfolk. A private burial will be held in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
