John Benjamin Norris Sr., of the 200 block of S. Newtown Road, died Dec. 29, 1996, in his residence.
Mr. Norris was born in 1905 in Linton, Ind. He grew up in Tulsa, Okla. He was a manager of Woolworth Stores in Texas and Radford, Va., and later retired as an accountant in Chapel Hill, N.C. He was an elder of New Hope Presbyterian Church in Chapel Hill. He was also a member of the Lions Club.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Welsh Norris; two sons, John B. Norris Jr. of Oriental, N.C., and George Van Norris of Boone, N.C.; and a daughter, Nancy N. Moore of Virginia Beach. Mr. Norris was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Sue Lucke. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in New Hope Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Chapel Hill, N.C. Pastor Harriett Ensing will officiate, assisted by George Norris. Kellum Funeral Home, Pleasant Hall Chapel, is in charge.
