Patricia Anne Smith, 63, found peace and an end to her suffering after a two year battle with cancer, as she was received by our Lord Jesus Christ, Monday evening, Dec. 30, 1996.
Mrs. Smith was employed by Leon K. Smith Architect as office manager for the past 14 years. She was a member of New Covenant Church. Mrs. Smith graduated from Newport News High School in 1951 and attended James Madison University. She was a past member of the Junior League of Hampton Roads and was an extensive volunteer with the Hampton Cerebral Palsy Center and ARC-P. Mrs. Smith was the former assistant librarian at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church Day School and Hampton Roads Academy.
Survivors include her husband, Leon K. Smith; two sons, Christopher K. Smith of Newport News and Patrick K. Smith and his wife, Kimberly of Norfolk; her mother, Mrs. Thelma Mitchell of Newport News and her grandson, Shane P. Smith.
The family will receive friends 7 to 8 p.m. today in New Covenant Church. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in New Covenant Church by the Rev. Richard Tison. Burial will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to New Covenant Church or the Diabetes Institute at E.V.M.S. Her lifetime was filled with selfless love for her family and a joyful walk with the Savior. Peninsula Funeral Home is in charge.
