Kathleen Holland Garriss, 91, died Dec. 29, 1996, in a Portsmouth hospital.
A native of Dunn, N.C., she was the widow of Stanley Garriss Sr. She was a retired schoolteacher and a Methodist.
Survivors include a granddaughter, Lisa Garriss of New York City; a grandson, Michael Garriss of Boulder, Colo.; two nieces, Mary Padgett, Carolyn Waters, both of Chesapeake; and a nephew, Herbert Holland of Portsmouth. She was predeceased by a son, Stanley Garris Jr.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Sturtevent Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. Kathryn Pigg. Burial will be private in Conway Cemetery, Conway, N.C.
