Your story about Joseph O'Dell's stay of execution gave me the impression that the entire nation of Italy is opposed to capital punishment. Not only did both houses of the Italian parliament rise to cheer the announcement of the stay, the president of their senate wrote a personal letter of protest to Vice President Gore. The mayor of Palermo went so far as to make O'Dell an honorary citizen.
I wonder if Mussolini is bitter.
