Julia Miller Harris, 85, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 1996, in a Portsmouth nursing home.
A native of Chowan County, N.C., she was a member of Portsmouth First Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Survivors include her husband, Wilbur W. Harris; three daughters, Ann Trueblood and husband, Linwood, Mary Russell, all of Hertford, Alice Cady of Norfolk; a son, James A. Miller Jr. of Currituck, N.C.; a stepdaughter, Judith K. Baer of Palatka, Fla.; three stepsons, Sherwood L. Harris of Springfield, Ga., Alvin W. Harris of Portsmouth, Marvin P. Harris of Suffolk; 14 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in New Hollywood Cemetery, Elizabeth City, by the Rev. Nelson F. Fields. The family will be at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, from 7 to 8 p.m. today. Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
