David Herman Lee ``Hi Meat'' Barnes, 59, of the 20000 block of Buckhorn Quarter Road, died Dec. 30, 1996, in Portsmouth General Hospital.
Born in Southampton County, Va., he was a member of Bryant Baptist Church, Capron, and was a retired truck driver for Burton Truck Co.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Brown Nickols of California, Renise Lovell Taylor of Boykins; three sons, David Lee Taylor of Boykins, Anthony E. Taylor of Portsmouth, David Whitfield of Norfolk; three sisters, Beatrice Lamison and Wonzer Westbrook, both of Capron, Ater Lee Deberry of Franklin; two brothers, Lewis Barnes of Courtland and Steward Barnes of Capron; five grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday in Bryant Baptist Church, Capron. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Engram Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
