William Blackburn Sr., 60, of the 600 block of Gallbush Road, died Jan. 1, 1997.
Born in Stone, Ky., he was a retired U.S. Navy chief petty officer/hydraulic mechanic assembler and was also employed by Plasser American Corp., Chesapeake. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association.
Survivors include his wife, Iva M. Blackburn; a daughter, Beatrice Marie Winstead and her husband, Jeffery, of Chesapeake; three sons, Michael W. Blackburn of Chesapeake, Glen J. Blackburn and his wife, Barbara, of Portsmouth, William Blackburn Jr. of Norfolk; three sisters, Roberta Craft, Donna Romans, Nancy McPeak; a brother, Glen C. Blackburn; five grandchildren, Virginia Dawn, Glen Jr., Sarah Ashley, Kelly Lynn, Christopher Michael; step-granddaughter, Tori Lynn, step-great-grandson, Bracy Collin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. The family will be at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Bridge Chapel, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday to receive friends.
