SUNDAY
Sometimes the most seemingly obvious art is not as simple as it seems. Take, for example, the realistic pencil drawings and paintings by Edward G. Carson, on display at The Arts Center at the Portsmouth Museums.
How should one take them? For clues to the deeper meanings of Carson, a well-known Norfolk artist and landscape architect, catch a free lecture at 2 p.m. Sunday presented by Carson and his old friend, the top Virginia architect Carlton Abbott.
The retrospective exhibit is up through Jan. 26 at the center, 420 High St. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $1. Call 393-8543.
