REGINALD P. MITCHELL

Mr. Reginald Cecil Ponsonby Mitchell, MBE, 71, owner of Reggie's British Pub in The Waterside, Norfolk, died of cancer Friday, Dec. 27, 1996, in Falls Church, Va.

Born in Brighton, England, in 1925, Mr. Mitchell was well-known for his endeavors to foster cooperation and understanding between the British and American communities. In January 1996 he was awarded the MBE (Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II for his accomplishments.

Survivors include Mr. Mitchell's four children, Judith Cranford of McLean, Va., Diane Whitehead of Falls Church, Gerald Mitchell of Warsaw, Poland, and Ian Mitchell of Arlington. Mr. Mitchell is also survived by his sister, Joan East of Deddington, England; his brother, Arthur Mitchell of Atlanta; and four grandchildren. Mr. Mitchell's wife, Patricia Mitchell, died of cancer in 1989.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday in St. Margaret's Church, Rottingdean, England, with interment in Lawn Memorial Park, Woodingdean, England.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society. Murphy Funeral Home, Arlington, is in charge of American arrangements.
