Linda Lindsey Beckett, 45, wife of Donald Beckett of the 1100 block of Sword Drive, went home to be with our Lord and Savior Wednesday, Jan. 1, 1997.
She was the daughter of Willie T. Lindsey Sr. and Della V. Lindsey. She was predeceased by her mother, Etta Lindsey.
A native of Portsmouth, she was employed as a nurse's aide at Portsmouth General Hospital for 10 years and also at Chesapeake General Hospital for several years, where she retired as an emergency room secretary. After retirement, she pursued her lifelong dream for creativity and development of innovative ideas.
Besides her husband and parents, she leaves to cherish her memories two daughters, Yolanda Morgan-Graham and Monica Y. Beckett; a grandson, Brehon Inair Morgan-Graham of Chesapeake; two sisters, Valerie Lindsey Richards of Jacksonville, Fla., Monique Lindsey Smith of Portsmouth; two brothers, Willie Lindsey Sr. of Virginia Beach and Vernon Lindsey of Chesapeake; special friends, Pearlie Ann Holloman and Arlethia Whitley Biggs; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and acquaintances.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Noble Street Baptist Church, Portsmouth. The burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. The family will be at the funeral home from 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday. Fisher Funeral Home is in charge. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
