Ruth M. Ford, 88, of the 400 block of 26th St. died Jan. 2, 1997, in her residence.
A native of Norfolk, she was the daughter of Robert Royal and Lennie Russ Ford and the sister of the late Elizabeth Ford Billmeyer.
Ruth graduated from Virginia Intermont College and worked as a civilian employee of the Norfolk Naval Base for 28 years.
She was a member of Galilee Episcopal Church; Daughters of the American Revolution, Francis Land Chapter; a member of Friends of the Francis Land House; Kings Daughter Lamplighter Circle; and the Cavalier Garden Club. Ruth loved all these organizations and her many friends.
Survivors include a niece, Ann Billmeyer Hicks and husband, Mansir Hicks of Smithfield; and a grandniece and nephew.
A graveside service will be conducted at Rosewood Memorial Park at 11 a.m. Monday by the Rev. Calvin G. Gardner. Memorial donations may be made to the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad Inc., P.O. Box 945, Virginia Beach, Va. 23451. Maestas Funeral Home, Baltic Avenue Chapel, is handling arrangements.
