William Hemphill Jr., 65, of the 1500 block of W. 41st St., died Dec. 31, 1996, in a local hospital.
A retired service attendant at Alamo Car Rental, Mr. Hemphill was a Norfolk native.
Survivors include his wife, Diana Gilchrist Hemphill; two sisters, Barbara Parker of Virginia Beach and Shirley M. Griffin of Exeter, R.I.; a sister-in-law, Alice Hickman; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends; and five brothers-in-law, Luzell Coleman, Joseph Gilchrist, the Rev. M. Coleman Gilchrist, Theodore Griffin and Addison Parker Jr.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Monday in Graves Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Peter Wherry. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Friends may join the family at the residence. There will be a wake service from 5 to 6 p.m. Sunday in the chapel. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
