NANCY S. BALL

Nancy Scribner Ball, 74, of the 200 block of Ocean Hills Road, died Jan. 1, 1997, in her home.

Mrs. Ball spent her childhood in Glen Ridge and Montclair, N.J. She attended St. Lawrence University. She was active in the community, and was an avid bridge player. She was a former president of the Bay Colony Garden Club, a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Alumni Association, the Princess Anne Country Club, and the Junior League of Norfolk and Virginia Beach. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Virginia Beach. She also served on the Virginia Beach General Hospital Auxiliary for 17 years.

Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Ernest E. Ball; four children, Peter A. Neill of Norwood, N.J., Betsey Ball Coleman of Mountain View, Calif., David E. Ball of Atlanta, Sarah Ball Jordan of Charlottesville, Va.; and seven grandchildren. She will be missed. Prior to her marriage to Mr. Ball, she was married to Peter A. Neill, a Navy flier who was killed during the ``Marianas Turkey Shoot'' off the carrier Wasp during World War II.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in the chapel of First Presbyterian Church in Virginia Beach by Dr. J. Scottie Griffin. Donations may be made to the Virginia Beach General Hospital Auxiliary Inc., 1060 First Colonial Road, Virginia Beach, Va., 23454.

H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel, is handling arrangements.
