Martin Jackson Sprinkle, 77, died Jan. 2, 1997.
He was a member of the Tidewater Striders Running Association. He was a retired chief petty officer of the U.S. Navy with more than 20 years service. Honors, citations and commendations include: World War II Victory; American Defense; Asiatic-Pacific Area; Presidential Unit Citations; and European Area. He also retired from RCA as an electrical engineer.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Rita G. Sprinkle; three sons, Ronald Martin Sprinkle of Jackson, Miss., James Walter Sprinkle of Chesapeake, Mark Rodney Sprinkle of Trenton, N.J.; two daughters, Barbara Lynn Craig of Virginia Beach and Deborah Helen Sprinkle of Richmond; sister, Lettie Arrington of Lebanon, Va.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday in Kellum Funeral Home, Rosewood Chapel. A chapel service will follow there at 1 p.m. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
