MARY M. WILSON

Mary Webb Smithwick Meyer Wilson, 79, of the Seabrook Fraser Medical Center, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 1996, on Hilton Head Island.

Mrs. Wilson was born Feb. 15, 1917, in Norfolk to the late Louis Jordan Smithwick and Ellen Miller Smithwick. She attended Norfolk Public Schools and graduated from the College of William and Mary. She taught in the Norfolk Public Schools and the Norfolk Collegiate Private School. She was very active in education, civic, cultural and religious activities. She was chairman of the Associate Committee of the Norfolk Chrysler Museum of Art. She was president of the Larchmont Garden Club and served on the Administrative Board of Epworth Methodist Church for many years. She was chosen class mother of the Wesleyman Bible Class.

Survivors include her sister, Ellen Moore of Hilton Head Island; niece, Mary Ellen Moore of Cincinnati, Ohio; nephews, Philip S. Moore III of Simi Valley, Calif., William Smithwick Moore of Hilton Head Island and Louis Jordan Moore of Crestview Hills, Ky.

A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in The Seabrook. Copeland Funeral Home, Hilton Head, is in charge.
