JOHNSTON C. SACHS

Johnston C. Sachs, 85, formerly of the 4100 block of Lindenwood Drive, died Jan. 4, 1997.

A retired civil service worker at the U.S. Pentagon, Mr. Sachs was a New York City native and the widower of Mildred T. Sachs and Frances Oliver Lawrence Sachs.

He was a member of Broad Street United Methodist Church and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member and past master of Falls Church Masonic Lodge and America Fellowship Lodge No. 148, a member of Acacia Chapter No. 51 Order of the Eastern Star in Falls Church, Va.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Patty Lawrence of Chesapeake; and six grandchildren; and a special nephew, J. Michael Oliver.

A graveside funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Olive Branch Cemetery by the Rev. Paul D. Moore. The family will receive friends in Snellings Funeral Home, George Washington Highway Chapel, from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday and other times at 3342 Martin Johnson Road, Chesapeake. Masonic rites will be accorded at the grave.
