Carol Reeve was named account manager with Ad-Ventures Advertising in Virginia Beach. Prior to this, she directed the marketing efforts for a Canadian home builder. She also organized a number of special events for home builders and automotive clients and served as a team leader on major accounts and projects.
BANKING
John H. Gayle was promoted to executive vice president, cashier, personnel officer and corporate secretary at the Bank of the Commonwealth. He joined the bank in 1985 and was previously senior vice president, cashier, personnel officer and corporate secretary.
Vicki L. Stephenson was named a mortgage sales officer for Wachovia Mortgage Co. in Norfolk. Prior to this, she worked for two other mortgage companies in Virginia Beach.
ENGINEERING
Robert S. Miller III, a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and president of MSA, a Virginia Beach consulting firm, was elevated to the membership level of ``Fellow'' within the society. This designation is considered one of the highest professional recognitions civil engineers can receive from their peers.
HEALTH CARE
Dr. Steven K. Snyder has joined the faculty at Eastern Virginia Medical School. Snyder is a pediatric ophthalmologist at Ophthalmic Consultants of Tidewater.
The Academy of General Dentistry presented Dr. Stelianos Bredologos with the 1996 Award of Excellence in Public Information. Bredologos was one of only three recipients of this international award, which recognizes outstanding state programs that spread positive dental health messages to as well as educate the public. He has a practice in Virginia Beach.
Dr. Joel N. Zaba, a Hampton Roads optometrist, was appointed to the six-member pediatric, binocular vision and perception committee of the American Optometric Association. Zaba specializes in the visual problems associated with learning disabilities, dyslexia and attention problems.
LAW
Christian L. Connell and John F. Faber Jr. were named associates at Mays & Valentine in Virginia Beach. Faber is a member of the firm's real estate practice group. He was formerly associated with Willcox & Savage in Norfolk. Connell is a member of the firm's business and commercial litigation practice group. He was previously with Hunton & Williams, Norfolk.
Cynthia D. Garris was named a partner with Abrons, Fasanaro & Sceviour, Norfolk. She will continue to concentrate in family law, civil litigation and criminal defense. The firm will now be known as Abrons, Fasanaro, Sceviour & Garris.
David S. Russotto and Susan S. Walker were named partners with the firm of Robert G. Jones in Virginia Beach. The firm will now be known as Jones, Russotto and Walker. Michael A. Stakes was named an associate with the firm. He was formerly law clerk to the late U.S. Disrict Court Judge Richard B. Kellam. And, Ruth A. Johnson was appointed business manager of the firm.
Mary Jane Hall has joined the litigation practice group at Mezzullo & McCandlish in Virginia Beach. She has been in private practice in this area since 1985. The firm, which also has offices in Norfolk, Richmond, Raleigh, N.C., Paris, and Guangzhou, China, opened its Virginia Beach office in December. The office will be initally staffed by Neil L. Rose.
HOSPITALITY
Stacey Patrick was promoted from assistant general manager to general manager at the Virginia Beach Resort Hotel & Conference Center.
MARKETING
Bill Newell was promoted to regional vice president of American Communications Network in Virginia Beach. Prior to this, Newell was a superintendent for a school system in Belleville, Ill. The company's headquarters is in Troy, Mich.
REAL ESTATE
Worth Remick has joined the industrial sales and leasing department at Robinson Sigma Commercial Real Estate. He has been in real estate brokerage for 11 1/2 years, specializing in office, flex and industrial properties.
