Eugene ``Pat'' Patterson, 72, died Jan. 4, 1997, in his residence.
Mr. Patterson was born in Norfolk and was a member of Coleman Place Presbyterian Church. He was retired from the Coast Guard, Navy and civil service and was a Coast Guard veteran of World War II. He was a member of VFW Post 4809; Moose Lodge (NU)39; and lifetime member of Lake Wright Golf Association. He was instrumental in starting the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Norfolk and was a coordinator of the Beecroft Memorial Golf Association.
Survivors include his wife, Lorraine Patterson; four daughters, Donna Barsalou of Enfield, Conn., Linda Charlton of Chesapeake, Susan Stamm and Sandra Hardy, both of Virginia Beach; two brothers, George Patterson and Donald Dale, both of Norfolk; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Forest Lawn Cemetery by Pastor Larry C. Miles. The family will be at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, from 6 to 8 p.m. today.
