Leon Aubrey Brunner, 78, of the 2400 block of Crown Court, died Jan. 4, 1997, in Chesapeake General Hospital.
Born in Monroe, La., he retired 14 years ago as yard foreman for N & W Railroad with 37 years service. Educated in Monroe Public Schools, he was a veteran of World War II, having served in England, France and Belgium.
Survivors include his wife, Janette Patillo Brunner; four daughters, Alfa B. Stevens of Severn, Md., Sheryl B. Blowe of Chesapeake, Benita B. Bowers of Norfolk, Glenda B. Arrington of Virginia Beach; three sons, Gregory L. and Kevin L. Brunner of Chesapeake, Aubrey M. Brunner of Clinton, Md.; a sister, Thelma Fowler of Los Angeles, Calif.; a special cousin, Alma L. Davis of Monroe; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four sons-in-law and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside rites will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Norfolk, by the Rev. Edward R. Shambry Jr. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Thursday. A wake will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Hale Funeral Home.
