CHARLES E. HANCOCK

Charles Eugene Hancock, 50, of Shands Drive, died Jan. 6, 1997, at home.

Mr. Hancock was a native of Suffolk, and was predeceased by his father, Robert (Bob) L. Hancock III. He was a shop foreman with 20 years of service with J.H. Lee and Sons Inc. He was a member and deacon of the Courtland Baptist Church, a past president of Sebrell Civic Club and a former member of the Town of Courtland Zoning Board. He was an army veteran having served in Vietnam.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Cathie Saunders Hancock; two daughters, LeAnne Kristen Hancock of Courtland and Jennifer Hancock Wheeler and her husband, Jason Lee Wheeler of Kitty Hawk, N.C.; his mother, Elizabeth P. Hancock Fowler of Franklin; three sisters, Elizabeth H. Bryant of Boykins, Ann H. Kellogg of Franklin and Vivian H. Hall of Wrightsville Beach, N.C. He was predeceased by a brother, R.L. (Bobby) Hancock IV.

A graveside funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Riverside Cemetery, Courtland. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin. Memorial donations may be made to the Courtland Baptist Church.
