Charlie ``Buster'' Cary Jr., 83, of the 6000 block of Proctor Bridge Road, died Jan. 4, 1997, in Obici Hospital, Suffolk.
A native of Southampton County, he was the son of Charlie Cary Sr. and Emma Clary Cary. He was a retired farmer and a member of Gilfield Baptist Church, Ivor. He was the oldest trustee of the church. He was a member of Young Farmer Club of Ivor and Vicksville Hunting Club of Sedley, Va.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ruth Cary; a daughter, Mrs. Josphine Spratley of Ivor; a son, Curtis Cary of Ivor; three daughters-in-law; a son-in-law; five sisters, Georgia Davis and Odell Warren, both of Ivor, Florence Thornton of Lynchburg, Va., Adell Bower of Washington, D.C. and Dorothy Edwards of Norfolk; two brothers, Clarence Cary of Chesapeake, Walter Cary of Ivor; 21 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Gilfield Baptist Church, Ivor, by the Rev. Eustice E. Mitchell. Burial will be in Cary's Family Cemetery, Ivor. The body will be placed in the church at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday. Crocker Funeral Home, Suffolk, is in charge.
