Sidney B. Johnson Sr., 73, passed into the arms of his Lord on Saturday Jan. 4, 1997.
A resident of Norfolk for most of his life, he had resided in Mathews for the past five years. Mr. Johnson retired from the U.S. government and served as a U.S. Marine during World War II. He was a member of Mathews Baptist Church where he served as president of his Sunday School class. He was also a member of The Silvertones and adult choir.
He is survived by his wife, Eunice Johnson; a son, Sidney Johnson Jr. and wife, Cindy; a daughter, Connie Duncan and husband, Glenn; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. today in Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews. Burial will follow in H.C. Smither Cemetery, Hudgins, Va. Memorials may be made to Mathews Volunteer Rescue Squad, Mathews, Va. 23109.
