Chesapeake and Suffolk city officials will hold a joint meeting tonight to give property owners information on a new land survey that will re-establish the border between the two cities.
Tonight's meeting is scheduled from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Western Branch Community Center, 4437 Portsmouth Blvd., Chesapeake. A second meeting is planned from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Jan. 14, at Driver Elementary School in Suffolk.
The new survey is expected to help both cities better govern the border area, which runs from Portsmouth south to the North Carolina line. A major area of contention is around Pughsville. The survey cost of between $35,000 and $50,000 will be shared by both cities.
