SAMUEL E. BUSH

Samuel Ernest Bush, 81, formerly of Portsmouth, died Monday, Jan. 6, 1997, in Emporia.

A native of Andalusia, Ala., he was a planner and estimator at Norfolk Naval Air Station. He was a member of Jackson Memorial Baptist Church and Tidal Wave Masonic Lodge No. 273, both of Portsmouth. Bush was the widower of Virginia Fowler Bush.

Survivors include a daughter, Betsy Doxey of Virginia Beach; a son, Sam Bush Jr. of Emporia; two brothers, Lamar Bush of Montgomery, Ala., and Walt Bush of Andalusia; and four grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in Cedar Wood Cemetery, Hertford, with Swindell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Donations may be made to the Greensville Volunteer Rescue Squad, Emporia, Va., or Alzheimer's Research, 358 Mowbray Arch, Norfolk, Va. 23507.
