After more than three years as the director of tourism and marketing for the Dare County Tourist Bureau, Rebecca Moore has resigned to accept a job in Raleigh.
``This decision was extremely difficult to make,'' Moore said Tuesday. ``I have the best job in all of North Carolina, and the Outer Banks is the best product in North Carolina and the entire East Coast. I'll always be a promoter of the Outer Banks, and look forward to returning on vacation.''
Moore, who joined the bureau's staff as the first director of tourism and marketing in November 1993, said she wanted to be more easily accessible and available to her family in Gastonia. ``Relocating will allow me the opportunity to a more balanced life between family, friends and job.''
She said she will leave Jan. 31 to take a job with the Raleigh Convention and Visitors Center.
``Rebecca has been extremely dedicated and a tremendous asset to the bureau and the Outer Banks,'' Executive Director Alvah H. Ward Jr., said. ``She is largely responsible for preparing Dare County's tourism industry for the 21st century. While we understand and appreciate her desires to be closer to her family, she will be missed, nonetheless.''
