Elizabeth Rice Butler, 95, of the 700 block of Oak Grove Road died Jan. 8, 1997, in a local hospital.
A native of Washington, D.C., Mrs. Butler was the widow of Howard Wade Butler and a member of Church of God, Norfolk. She was a member of Chi Omega sorority and a graduate of George Washington University, Washington, D.C.
Survivors include her daughter, Elizabeth B. Kitchen; two grandchildren, Jill Nester of Virginia Beach and Gary Kitchen of Tampa, Fla.; three great-grandchildren, Eric Nester, Todd Nester and Courtenay Nester, all of Virginia Beach; grandson-in-law, Denny Nester of Virginia Beach. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Kellie Kitchen Kirschner.
A memorial service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in Sentara Village, Chesapeake, by the Rev. Carl Cooper. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, is in charge. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Mid-Atlantic Teen Challenge, 9302 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, Va. 23601.
