Charles Osbourne ``Cam'' Cambell, who resided in the Washington Square community, passed on Thursday, Jan. 2, 1997, in Virginia Beach. Kind, steadfast and loyal, he unfailingly put the happiness and well-being of others above his own. His brave spirit was an inspiration to all of us who love him.
Mr. Cambell graduated from the University of Maine in 1925 with a degree in forestry. He was a member of Phi Beta Kappa fraternity. Following his graduation, he worked as a surveyor in the Canadian wilderness. He later moved to Chicago to join the staff of Western Electric. In 1928, he was hired by Merrill Lynch. He was employed in their New York offices as a supervisor of margins accounts, until he retired in 1968. Following his retirement, he moved to Virginia Beach. He had many interests, which he pursued actively until shortly before his death.
Mr. Cambell's beloved wife, Helen M. Cambell, preceded him in death. Survivors include his daughter, Cynthia Cambell Sabatini of Virginia Beach; three grandchildren, Robert L. Brock III of Morgantown, W.Va., Elizabeth Anne Springs of Virginia Beach, Susan B. Brock of Dayton, Ohio, and a great-grandson, Robert Christopher Brock Springs of Virginia Beach.
Arrangements for a memorial service are incomplete and will be announced later. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Hospice At Home Care, 3386 Holland Road, Virginia Beach, Va. 23452. Kellum Funeral Home, Bonney Road Chapel, is in charge.
