The eccentric rock star - who changed his name from Prince to an unpronounceable glyph - has apparently changed his mind. A spokesman said Thursday that The Artist won't be playing the Hampton University Convocation Center Wednesday - or several other dates on his ``Love 4 One Another Charities Tour 1997.''
No reason for the cancellation was available Thursday night, but a businessman who was helping to organize the tour said the local show is off.
Billy Sparks, speaking from EMI Records headquarters in New York City, noted: ``We never confirmed the date, we never signed a contract. The school is great. We were going to do the date because we wanted to do something for the school, but. . .''
