Edward Whitson Bell, 61, died Friday, Jan. 10, 1997, at a Virginia Beach hospital.
Mr. Bell was born in Troy and was a retired sales consultant, an avid fisherman and a sailor. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 288 of Coinjock, VFW of Virginia Beach, University of North Carolina Alumni Association, Chapel Hill. He was the son of William W. Bell of Troy and the late Delilah Bell and the husband of Betty Joyce Nichols Bell of the home.
Besides his wife and father, he is survived by two daughters, Dana Summerell of Kill Devil Hills, and Michelle Massuh of Costa Rica; two sons, Michael Bell of Nags Head and Scott Bell of Kill Devil Hills; two sisters, Phyllis and Barbara; three brothers, Jackson, William, Larry; and eight grandchildren.
A chapel service will be held Sunday, Jan. 12, 1997, at 12:30 p.m. at Twiford's Colony Chapel with the Rev. Robert Pitsch officiating. Burial will follow in the Roanoke Island Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held today at Twiford's Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. The family requests that memorial donations be made to the Colington United Methodist Chruch Building Fund, Kill Devil Hills, N.C. 27948. Twiford's Colony Chapel, Manteo, is in charge of arrangements.
