Gladys M. O'Berry, 89, of the 1100 block of Chesapeake Ave., died Jan. 10. 1997.
Born in Isle of Wight County, Va., she was a retired payroll clerk for the Norfolk Naval Base. She was a member of Smithfield Baptist Church, Smithfield. She was an active participant of Southside Baptist Church and member of its Ladies Bible Class and WMU. For many years she served as the pianist for the children's choir of Chesapeake Avenue United Methodist, South Norfolk Congregational Christian Church and Southside Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Longwood College and charter member of Niners Senior Citizens Club.
Survivors include a brother, Jesse O'Berry of Smithfield and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Southside Baptist Church by the Rev. Greg Hensley. Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today in Graham Funeral Home, South Norfolk Chapel.
