Teresa Absher Spriegel, 75, died Jan. 8, 1997, in a Norfolk hospital.
She was born in Washington, D.C., was the daughter of the late Macie Nash and George W. Absher Sr. and was the widow of retired U.S. Navy Cmdr. William T. Spriegel. Mrs. Spriegel was a member of the Nellie Custis Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star in Washington, D.C.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia S. Smith of Chesterfield, Va., Mary S. Meekins of Virginia Beach; a son, Michael P. Spriegel of Fredericksburg, Va.; three sisters, Pauline Rachelle of Staunton, Va., Ruth Spates of Cape Coral, Fla, Audrey Layman of Alta Vista, Calif.; two brothers, Kenneth Absher of La Plata, Md., George Absher Jr. of Vienna, Va.; and six grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 17, in Meyers Chapel in Arlington National Cemetery where burial will follow. Due to her love for children, in lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters, P.O. Box 2156, Norfolk, Va. 23501. Cox Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
