Henry Ervin White, 86, of the 500 block of Mulligan Drive, died Jan. 9, 1997,in a Norfolk hospital.
Born in Hope Mills, N.C., Mr. White retired as the owner of a successful dry cleaning establishment in Bakersfield, Calif. He was a member of the American Drycleaning Association and past president of the local branch of the assocation in Bakersfield.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel Mary White; a son, E.E. ``Gene'' White and his wife, Donna Lee White of Winfall, N.C.; two sisters, Myrtle Lee of Kannapolis, N.C., Eloise Holt of Burlington, N.C.; three grandchildren, Steven Eugene White of Raleigh, N.C., Michael Alan White and his wife, Paddi White of Atlanta, Susan Marie Hoff and her husband, Luke Ora Hoff of Moline, Ill. Mr. White is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Justin, Grace and Carter.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, Virginia Beach, by Fr. James E. Parke. Burial will be in Colonial Grove Memorial Park. The family requests that in lieu of flowers that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society or to the American Lung Association.
