A 32-year-old man died Friday night after the car he was driving ran into the rear of a moving dump truck.
State police said David Shivers III of Smithfield died at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News shortly after arrival.
The accident happened about 7:40 p.m. on Virginia Route 10, just west of Cypress Run Drive. Shivers was heading east on Route 10 in a pickup truck, going about 50 mph, when his truck ran into the back of a dump truck hauling limestone.
State police said Shivers was not wearing a seat belt and that alcohol was a factor in the accident.
