Mr. Alton Johnson Beamon, 52, of the 2600 block of Lake Ridge Crossing died Jan. 10, 1997, in Chesapeake General Hospital.
A native of Nansemond County, Mr. Beamon was predeceased by his parents, James Beamon and Gertrude Walker Beamon. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, Chesapeake, Virginia Pastor's Aid, Inspirational Choir and Tidewater GMWA Choir.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Carolyn Beamon; a step-daughter, Felicia Gaylor of Chesapeake; son, Marcus Beamon of Suffolk; step-son, Timothy Gaylor of Fayetteville, N.C.; two sisters, Sylvia Hicks of Yonkers, N.Y., and Diane Beamon of Suffolk; two brothers, James T. Beamon Jr. of Portsmouth and Carlton Zachary of Highland Park, N.J.; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and three step-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Macedonia Baptist Church, Chesapeake, by Dr. George Davis. Burial will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery, Suffolk. Crocker Funeral Home is in charge. The body will be placed in the church at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
