Mary Elizabeth Russo Annunziata, 78, of the 300 block of Paxford Drive, died Jan. 10, 1997, in a Norfolk hospital.
Mrs. Annunziata was a native and lifelong resident of Norfolk. She was the daughter of the late Augustine and Josephine Rossano Russo. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Joseph Annunziata. She was a member of The Catholic Church of the Ascension in Virginia Beach.
Mrs. Annunziata graduated from Maury High School Class of 1936 and was employed at the Naval Base as a secretary to the commanding officer from 1936 to 1951. She later was employed with the Norfolk Postal Credit Union as a teller/secretary for several years.
Survivors include a daughter, Janet L. Farling and her husband Terry of Virginia Beach; three sons, Frank A. Annunziata and his wife Ellen of Chesapeake, Samuel J. Annunziata Jr. of Virginia Beach, and Paul V. Annunziata and his wife Lisa of Virginia Beach; a sister, Antoinette R. Finegan and her husband, Albert, of Virginia Beach; three brothers, Judge Philip Lee Russo Sr. and his wife, Mary Caligari Russo of Virginia Beach, Rocco Linwood Russo and his wife Midge of Virginia Beach, Augustine Joseph ``Gus'' Russo and his wife JoAnn of Norfolk; and seven grandchildren, Laura, Katie, Bethany, William and Bridget Annunziata, and Erin and Cory Farling.
A Mass of Christian Burial service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Monday at The Catholic Church of the Ascension, Virginia Beach, by Reverend James Parkes. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church Monday evening from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Memorials may take the form of flowers, or contributions to the American Diabetes Association. Following the interment the family will be at 1008 Sherando Court, Chesapeake. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk will be handling the arrangements.
