LUCILLE V. BAXTER

Lucille Virginia Baxter, 76, of the 1500 block of Wool Ave. died Jan. 9, 1997, in Maryview Hospital.

A native of Ahoskie, N.C., Mrs. Baxter was the widow of Jesse L. Baxter. She was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church, Portsmouth, and usher board No. 2. She was also a member of Portsmouth Citywide Ushers Association.

Survivors include three daughters, Jessie B. Robinson of Chesapeake, Connie B. Penn of Highland Park, N.J., and Cherie B. Lewis of Portsmouth; four sons, Thomas L. Baxter and John Willie Baxter, both of Bronx, N.Y., and Michael E. Baxter and Stanley F. Baxter, both of Portsmouth; three sisters, Betty Giles, Eurnice Riddick, both of Portsmouth, and Bernice Jones of Suffolk; 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; aunt, Adeline Brown of Snow Hill, Md.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends. She was predeceased by a daughter, Marion L. Baxter, and a twin brother, Ernest C. Liverman.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Mount Calvary Baptist Church, Portsmouth, by the Rev. William S. Hampton. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home, Portsmouth, will begin at noon today. The body will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. Monday.
