Bertie Mae Duke March, 91, of the 100 block of Grove Avenue, died Friday, Jan. 10, 1997, in Hillhaven Nursing Center.
A homemaker, Mrs. March was a Nansemond County native and the widow of Robert D. March Sr. She was the oldest charter member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, Suffolk, and a member of Ruth Bible Class and Ethyleen Corbitt Missionary Circle.
She was predeceased by her son and son-in-law, Robert D. March Jr. and M.S. Epperson, and parents, Annie Cross Duke and A. Thomas Duke.
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Virginia M. and William Henry Rountree, Suffolk, and Jean M. Epperson of Suffolk; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Hillcrest Baptist Church, Suffolk, by the Rev. Douglas W. Gibson. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens, Suffolk. Visitation will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. today in Hill Funeral Home, and at other times the family will be at 200 Grove Ave., the home of Virginia M. Rountree. Memorials can be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church Memorial Fund.
