Police are seeking public assistance in solving these cases:
PORTSMOUTH
On Nov. 9, the Zippy Mart in the 3400 block of Hartford St. was robbed by a man with a handgun.
The man demanded that the clerk open all the cash registers. After he took the money, the man fled and was last seen running east on Hartford Street, toward Pacific Avenue.
The man is described as black, in his 20s, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and 170 pounds. He was wearing a black leather coat, blue jeans, gloves and a mask. He was armed with a small, black, semi-automatic pistol.
CHESAPEAKE
On Jan. 6, the Crown gas station in the 3200 block of Western Branch Blvd. was robbed. An image of the man was recorded by a surveillance camera.
The man is described as black, in his mid-20s, 5 feet 9 inches tall, 150 pounds with a medium build, black hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a blaze orange hooded sweatshirt, a blue shirt and blue jeans.
In the past three months, four motels have been robbed in the Deep Creek area. Two of the robberies, at Clarke's Motel and another motel in the 3000 block of S. Military Highway, occurred at gunpoint. Investigators believe the same person is responsible for all four robberies.
He is described as white, in his late 20s or early 30s, 6 feet 1 inch tall and 210 pounds. He has long, bleached hair, distinctive blue eyes, wide hips, a large build and is clean shaven. He was last seen wearing a baseball hat, faded blue jeans, a brown leather jacket and a white polo shirt.
Early Saturday morning, Jan. 10, traffic Officer R.W. White was running radar when he stopped a white 1995 Hyundai near the intersection of George Washington Highway and Cornland Road.
During a search of the vehicle, a small bag containing almost a kilogram of crack cocaine was found.
Two passengers were arrested and charged, but the driver fled. Police identified him as James A. Morris, 29, whose last known address was in Edenton, N.C. He is described as black, 6 feet 2 inches tall and 220 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
HAMPTON
In the past month, the NationsBank night depository in the 2000 block of Coliseum Drive has been the scene of four robberies.
The robberies usually occur in the evening. The victims are people making deposits. The robber, armed with a gun, demands the deposit.
