Mae Brooks Holladay, 96, of the 1400 block of Huntington Crescent, died Friday, Jan. 10, 1997, in a Norfolk hospital.
She was the former secretary to the special agent in charge of the U.S. Customs Service in Norfolk. She was born in Mathews, Va., was the daughter of the late Emma Owens and Archie Franklin Brooks and the widow of John Calvin Holladay Sr. She was an active member for over 70 years of First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Virginia H. Lampert, her husband Kenneth, and a son, John C. Holladay Jr., all of Norfolk; five grandchildren, Kenneth B. Lampert Jr. and Susan Lampert Smith of Norfolk, John C. Holladay IV, Jeffrey G. Holladay and Jay D. Holladay, all of Virginia Beach; and six great-grandchildren, Ted, Zach and Katie Lampert, and Daniel, Brian and Ellen Smith, all of Norfolk.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in First United Methodist Church by the Rev. Robert A. Edwards. Burial will be private in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will be at the home of her daughter. Memorial contributions may be made to the church, 3031 Luxembourg Ave., Norfolk, Va. 23509. Cox Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
